Melissa Oil is steam distilled from the leaves and flowering tops of the plant. It is sometimes referred to as lemon balm due to its strong lemony scent.

The high price of Melissa is due to the fact that approximately 3 tonnes of plant material is required to yield around 0.5 litres of oil.
